One teenage youth was found dead just days after being falsely blamed of taking the cremated remains of a deceased baby during a burglary, an inquest has learned.

Tragic Discovery

Kai Lloyd's mother and father discovered his remains in his bedroom at his Flintshire home on 19 November 2021.

False Allegations Start

The inquest learned how his mother got a message on 8 November 2021 via online platforms, from a woman asking if Kai was her child. The communication added: "Inform him thanks for breaking into my flat."

In a statement read to the proceedings, the mother said the woman had been in the news, asserting her infant's remains had been taken in a break-in - a allegation which was untrue.

Police Inquiry

An official inquiry from authorities later determined the supposed burglary complainant had "lied to police" and "it now appears that said property was not stolen in the first place".

Media reports about the supposed taken ashes attracted social media responses, and although the teenager was not identified in the messages, his mother said individuals "knew it was him".

The "social media content were really distressing", she said.

Emotional Wellbeing Effect

She explained that her son had been identified with mild attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and as part of that disorder, other individuals' views really were important to him.

"This must have hurt him deeply," she said, "particularly when this was not true".

Kai was arrested at home, but no evidence was found. He was transported to a police station and later freed under investigation.

Authorities said they would be in contact, the inquest learned, but had failed to reached out to the family by the time of his passing.

Withdrawal and Anxiety

His parent said her son "became isolated" after the arrest and "repeatedly inquired me whether I had received anything from the police", because his condition meant sometimes "certain periods could seem like much longer".

When she talked to him about the alleged burglary, she said her son told her he had gone into the house because the woman who resided there had said he could use the toilet whenever he needed, but refuted removing anything.

Digital Harassment

In a joint statement between her and her husband, Mrs Lloyd said her child was being bullied online after the allegations.

The inquest heard that a 19-year-old encouraged Kai to end his life.

She had no concerns on the evening before he died, explaining how she had heard him "chuckling and teasing".

She described him as a "compassionate, affectionate" boy, and said her "family is totally devastated".

He had been "clearly concealing his worries", she stated, noting that he could not bear to have anyone "have negative thoughts of him".

School Reaction

The inquest received testimony from school personnel at the local secondary school.

On November 8th, she "overheard some boys talking that Kai had been arrested and that was the first I learned".

"He told me... he'd was innocent," she continued.

After the discussion, the staff member said she called the family's family telephone and provided a message saying she had communicated to the student about the accusations.

The court learned his parents said they never got that communication.

Official Finding

Lead coroner informed the hearing he would wait for documents regarding what improvements had been made to dealing with individuals with the condition, before deciding whether he should make a avoidance of future deaths report.

Providing a narrative conclusion, he stated: "Around November 8th, 2021, unsubstantiated allegations were made against Kai Benjamin Lloyd, a 14-year-old individual.

"Likely falsehoods were subsequently embellished and amplified through the medium of social media.

"On November 11th, he was questioned by the authorities and following his interview he was freed while investigations continued."

The official determined: "There is no evidence that the acts or failures of any organization caused or added to his death and although it was the outcome of a personal action it is impossible to discern his intent."
