Expedition 33 Triumphs at the 2025 Golden Joystick Ceremony
The 43rd yearly Golden Joystick Awards took place this past week, and in a stunning display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 claimed the title of the most decorated winner. The standout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive won the coveted Game of the Year award, along with accolades for Superb Storytelling and Best Visual Design.
Adding to the developer's achievements, the gifted performers also were honored with personal awards. Jennifer English won Top Lead Actor for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr took home Supporting Performance Award for his work as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive the studio was named Best Development Team. In total, Clair Obscur and its creative team achieved 7 awards during the event.
Additional major winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which won Top Sound Design and Top Console Title, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Outstanding Independent Game and Best PC Game. It is important to note, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are chosen by the gamers, with only 4 awards—Critics Choice, Breakthrough, Hall of Fame, and Streamers’ Choice—determined by critics.
