Following weeks of tension, schemes and backstabbing, Celebrity Traitors concludes with a thrilling finale

Throughout the season, viewers witnessed murders, double-crosses, serious side-eye, and a memorable moment that pierced the overwhelming suspense.

However on the final evening, the ultimate victor of the first celebrity edition emerged triumphant.

From nineteen participants, only five remained: Traitors and faithfuls competing for the prize.

Soon, the field narrowed to only three contenders: the remaining contestants.

In the end, funny man Alan Carr emerged as the winner, in a shocking result that broke the internet and left him emotional.

"It's been tearing me apart, I'm so sorry," he declared, admitting to the other players that he'd always been a traitor. "I'm an awful human being."

"You played amazingly," they consoled him. "It's all right."

Online platforms immediately exploded with the news. "The worst deceiver being the most effective player," commented a viewer.

"It couldn't have been a better conclusion," wrote another, while a third called it "the television highlight of the year."

The organization he selected, a cancer charity, will receive all the prize money, with the final pot reaching eighty-seven thousand five hundred pounds.

The comedian's evolution from comic relief to cold-hearted killer was one of the standout highlights of the season.

However, his victory still shocked viewers surprised, as noted by industry observers.

"The thought of him, among everyone, executing an expert performance in deception felt just as probable as him maintaining composure through his comedy routines."

On subsequent discussions, fellow players explained the reasons nobody had ever really suspected him.

"He might have appeared to breakfast in a green cloak and I still wouldn't have thought he was a traitor. I was too busy laughing," a player said.

"The majority didn't target him because how can you eliminate a person so loveable?" questioned another celebrity.

The winner stated he had "thoroughly enjoyed" his time on the show.

"I want to do it again... I doubt it would be successful again!"

Thursday evening's installment was extended to over an hour on television. There was an unusual opening than usual, as every celebrity knew who'd make it at the breakfast table.

There was some very uplifting, and atypical for the show soundtrack, as the episode revisited key scenes from each of the finalists' experience in the game.

True to form, Alan Carr gave us unforgettable quotes.

"To be honest, I started the competition as something of a nervous wreck. I've thrown close allies under the bus, I've murdered beloved figures openly. I'm clearly more deceptive and player than I thought."

Meanwhile, a different player noted that reaching the conclusion was "way more stressful than competing with England", while another said he was "completely amazed" to have made it so far.

Early on in the episode, several players seemed to be attempting to become the fashion standout of the castle, taking over from the previously eliminated fashionable contestant.

The winner appeared at the morning meal resembling a vintage television personality in patterned burgundy attire, before changing into a bejewelled white suit.

However, he got outstyled by a fellow player's maroon velvet tuxedo. Impressive style.

Next up was the competition, with the remaining contestants boarding a locomotive called - naturally - The Traitors Express.

This task saw them ripping up images of former contestants. Spare a thought for a player who managed to get hit in the head THREE times by the cover of a substantial container.

Before long, it was time for the roundtable.

Two traitors did a pinky promise in advance, pledging to support each other. "We've progressed significantly, I won't throw him under a bus," stated one, while the other just giggled.

However, one adhered to his promise. Yet, managing to stay unnoticed for most of the game, their partner still received the majority elimination votes.

The remaining traitor looked like to be experiencing significant distress to be the last traitor standing. "Being alone, I'm frightened," he said. "I'm unpredictable, without direction."

Online platforms and onlookers were equally disappointed.

"I hoped against this contestant to be eliminated. A truly loveable traitor," commented a commentator.

"You will forever be remembered in Traitors history," posted another user.

But there was little opportunity to focus on their elimination. Soon, the game reached the final stage - which was the moment everyone anticipated.

The last players stood over the ceremonial fire. Meanwhile, the partnership collapsed, just when it was most crucial, in a truly WTF moment.

One contestant was eliminated in dramatic fashion - after a shock vote from their ally, who turned against them.

"It hurts to be stabbed in the back at the final moment like that," said the ousted contestant. Subsequently, we learned that when they message, the eliminated contestant refers to their former ally as a traitor.

Finally, only three contestants were still competing: the last participants.

One player, looking incredibly smug, chose to conclude the game. The same decision was made by a different player, and everything depended on the final participant, who made the identical choice - resulting in the deceiver was the winner.

For observers, the moment where the other players comforted the champion was "compelling television". "I anticipate it will be a contender for memorable moment at next year's awards," they commented.

Fortunately, the champion quickly regained composure from his bout of tears, and could finally appreciate the moment.

"Such an emotional journey. I thought I was terrible at deception, I had no poker face and now I stand a winner," he said.

And he even joked about that infamous murder - his close ally in an early episode - by leaning toward the presenter in the concluding moments and touching her cheek.

"There's something on your face," he said, with his characteristic laugh.

The recent episodes of famous people scheming, scheming and the occasional unexpected moments may feel like a bizarre fantasy. Yet it actually occur. And we will miss it.
