Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent Far Cry game that audiences dived into was Far Cry 6, that showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the villain, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for celebrating chaos and madness with equal excitement, all while presenting gripping, socially charged stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry anthology series attracted two visionaries whose work have exemplified all of those elements.
About the Series
Inspired by Ubisoft's popular video game property, the short-run anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The show will also mirror the video games' style by having a different backdrop and group of personalities in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as executive producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed excellent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, engrossing, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our associates at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also appear in the show, but at the time of writing, we do not know what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago approved for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the creator.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX partners constantly supports me with their steady confidence and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style series. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a version on a premise,” explained Hawley. “To create a large-scale action show that can evolve from season to season, while always delving into the core of humanity through this intricate and turbulent viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and present our shared bold, daring sensibility to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
