Kansas City Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
