Tottenham Boss Frank Labels Goalkeeper Critics 'Not Real Fans'
Fulham Begin Powerfully to Defeat Spurs and Increase Pressure on Frank
Tottenham Hotspur fans who jeered keeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed later "those individuals cannot be true Tottenham fans" by manager Frank.
Spurs let in a pair of goals in the opening initial moments to lose 2-1 to their opponents, registering their tenth Premier League at home loss of 2025.
But the main talking point was Fulham's next score when the keeper gave away possession far beyond his box.
The goalkeeper ventured out to deal with a long ball and carried the ball towards the touchline.
But, instead of kicking it out of play, the Italy international spun and attempted to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Wilson and was collected by King.
King laid the ball off to Wales midfielder Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the sideline recorded at 36.6 yards.
Moments later when the ball came to Vicario once more, a number of Spurs supporters jeered him.
The team were jeered off at the interval, with the club 2-0 down, and again at full-time.
One of those booing sessions really irritated Frank.
"I heard a few of our fans apparently jeered the incident and booed after, which, in my view is totally unjustifiable," the Dane commented regarding the supporters' reaction to his goalkeeper.
"[They] cannot be true Spurs fans that act that way. Alright booing after the match, fine, but when we are in play, we are backing each other, we are behind one another moving ahead."
Tete had given Fulham a early lead before Wilson's goal – with Kudus netting for Spurs in an better second period showing.
Former Premier League keeper Joe Hart remarked that the next goal was "totally preventable".
"I do understand the supporters' disappointment," the ex-keeper continued. "I know the part the keeper is playing. He's a excellent team player, he's a real figure in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.
"He was heavily involved in what turned out to be the decisive goal."
'It's In the Game, I Can Handle It'
Frank Stood Up For His Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario Following the Game
Italy international Vicario is in his third season with Spurs.
The 29-year-old said following the game that he had to take the criticism.
"The second goal was a error of my own, I take responsibility for it," he said.
"The intent was to clear the ball far and I just struck the ball in a bad manner. It was an even bigger challenge to climb."
He said receiving jeers "is part of football".
"I am mature, how can I respond?" he continued. "We cannot be influenced by the situation in the stands. Supporters have the entitlement to do what they think.
"It's on the team to stay more calm, to focus on our own performance. We are lacking in calmness and calmness to overturn outcomes. Today is a bad defeat and it is tough to accept."
'It Shocked Me No One Returned to the Goal Line'
In spite of Vicario's error, it was not an easy goal for Harry Wilson to convert.
In fact it was the second most distant top division score of the season – after Adams' forty-three point three yard goal for the Cherries against Sunderland, which incidentally also came on the same day.
The goalscorer said he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an empty net to target.
10 seconds passed between Vicario coming out of his area and the midfielder striking – which was 5 seconds following the kick.
"It seemed to me like the keeper was away from the area for a long time," Wilson said.
"It amazed me none of the defenders went back to the goal line. When none of them covered the goal, my eyes sparked a bit.
"Udogie fell as well, which gave me a bit of additional opportunity. Then it was solely about attempting to achieve the correct contact and get it on target. I felt a good sense, as soon as it left my foot, that it was heading in."
'During in a Poor Run, All Seems to Go Against You'
Jeering While We Are Still Playing Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank
While the keeper's mistake led coverage, this was an overall bad performance for Spurs to extend their home ground woes.
The match was their tenth at home defeat of 2025 in the league, a shared club statistic along with nineteen ninety-four and 2003.
The side still have home fixtures against Frank's former club the Bees and champions the Reds to come before the end of the season.
Just a single of those victories have come after Frank took over from his predecessor in the off-season.
"When you're behind 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," stated the boss.
"During in a bad spell, all aspects appears to work against you too – the opening was a deflected shot, the next is a mistake from Vic.
"This result puts us in a position where we have lost an additional game. Every game has a single narrative, today we lost in the early stages.
"We simply need to continue striving. The second half was significantly improved and hopefully something we can utilize to learn."
Tottenham have been defeated in four consecutive home London derbies for the initial time in the top division.
And they are recording nine point five shots and three point two efforts on goal per match in the Premier League – their poorest rates on record in a one campaign (dating back to the 2003-04 season).
Former Cottagers midfielder Danny Murphy commented that the manager has to ride the storm.
"He's got take the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's taken a prestigious role at a major football club with massive expectation. There is scrutiny and duty that accompanies that.
"The performances at home have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
